Thank you for sending your letter and helping to save the life of the young woman from Al-Qaitf, who was sentenced to 200 lashes after having been kidnapped and gang-raped. Had the sentence been carried out, she would almost certainly have died.

Because of international pressure, King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia has granted her a pardon from all the charges.

By speaking up, you helped send a message to the government of Saudi Arabia, and governments everywhere, including Canada, that we want injustice and violence against women everywhere to be stopped.
