Click the link below to watch a clip of Dr. Sanjay Chaturvedi speaks with Mark Kelly of the CBC on asbestos, its exportation to India and the efforts that have been made to silence opposition to asbestos in India.

The Asbestos Cement Products Manufacturers Association in India have served notices on Dr Chaturvedi and other health professionals and health defenders in India saying that if they do not retract their published articles about asbestos harm, they will be pursued in court.

Canadian taxpayers are funding the Canadian asbestos lobby group (the Chrysotile Institute) to put on events in India and developing countries, telling the public that chrysotile asbestos (which represents 100% of the global asbestos trade) is a wonderful product that can be used safely. This is, of course, untrue. Chrysotile asbestos is deadly. But when health experts try to let the public in India and elsewhere know that asbestos is deadly, the industry threatens them with legal action to try to silence them and thus allow the public to hear only our Canadian tax-payer funded, pro-asbestos propaganda.

Canada’s Chrysotile Institute works closely with the Indian Asbestos Cement Products Manufacturers Association.
