I got my face on the front page of this paper and I was in the Feb 27 2013 Vancouver Sun Newspaper talking about Asbestos. I’m currently bugging everyone about the environmental impact of Asbestos on people and the surrounding country side in the Area’s of these open pit mine’s people are riding their ATV’s and motor bikes and are getting exposed and exposing their loved ones to Cancer’s caused by Asbestos.

It is shameful to think a mere seven nations can scuttle something so important as allowing chrysotile asbestos to be added to the Rotterdam Convention’s list of hazardous substances.
This farce only confirms what many have been saying, the Rotterdam Convention will become meaningless, unless it changes its’ voting system to one of ‘majority rules’.
The Bernie Banton Foundation will continue to encourage the Australian Government to take a leading role in the banning of asbestos worldwide.

Kudos to Kathleen Ruff for an insightful report. It never ceases to amaze me, a mesothelioma patient, how human beings (especially in the asbestos industry) can so completely disregard both common sense and decency in order to obtain or increase profits. It’s refreshing to see them exposed and punished for what they have done. Let’s hope we soon see the eradication of all asbestos mining, sale, and use.

This is a well-written and important article which documents an ongoing propaganda campaign fuelled by asbestos money to create confusion where none exists. It is well known and acknowledged by international agencies that asbestos is a carcinogen which should not be used. The only voices which disagree are those of the asbestos industry and scientists which are funded by it. Well done to Kathleen Ruff for bringing this new information about the International Chrysotile Association to light.
